LEGO WALL·E
Maya, Arnold, LDraw, Houdini
LEGO WALL·E is a personal project I made while experimenting with Lego LDraw files and data. The LDraw files keep track of the sequential order of Lego bricks placed. Using this data inside Houdini with Motion Operatives (MOPS), I created a few tests with bricks falling in order using gradient falloffs (shown below). I then took the WALL·E LDraw model from Houdini over to Maya to do a short animation of the character on top of the brick-building motion and rendered with Arnold.
Gradient-based falloff animation created within Houdini with MOPS, and imported back into Maya as an Alembic, with preserved materials and color.
Spring physics also added.
